I THINK IV’E GOT IT!!!!  All I have to do is find items that I can regularly buy low and sell high.  That seems simple.  Why have I been making it so hard?  And, I think I see some items that qualify….Yay!

Oh, I’m way too tired to do anything more today.  Real life strikes (and a bit of raiding on my main)!  It’s a good thing my goal wasn’t to win!

1)evaluate pipelines (UMJ, testing)

-record buy/sell data from beancounter….yes, it may have missed a few, but I’ll know to record right away in the future

3) *NEW:  choose one higher level (5-25g per item) pipeline to evaluate.  Gulp.  Can I do this successfully? Go for it!
Use list from “Justmytwocopper”, which sounds a lot like items I hear MGBers talking about.  (Check what’s working for others in GSRV; Jon’s pipeline of the day; look at categories using Auctionator Buy. Now I’m getting too many things to look at, so try 1 method first).  Assess using UJ.

SURPRISE:  It seems easy to evaluate potential pipelines by testing!  I think the tracking I’m doing will work.  The spreadsheet I set up is intuitively the way to track, but words seem better for me.  WOW!  But it is very slow.

*WHAT’S WORKING: Beancounter!  I am relying heavily on it to track pipeline testing (this was a barrier for me previously, because it worked erratically – and tracking all of this was too much for me)

WHAT’S BROKEN:
-Auctionator Buy lists…often nothing shows up in my buy lists, so I can’t make the search.  Noticed on my main…maybe since last patch, or maybe last week? /disgusted look.
Download latest Auctionator.  Loaded V2.8.9, supports 4.0.6, Feb. 21/11. 
Logout/login.  Seems OK now (but it always is on first starting in AH).  We’ll see….

-MySales. Loaded on Day 1, showing only scrambled titles, no sales.  Ah, now I have a list, although titles are still a bit scrambled and all times are “0s ago”.  Can’t see anything to change in /ms config.

PROBLEM:
Despite all the fine words below, I feel like I haven’t the foggiest notion what I’m doing.  Prices change so radically between weekend and weekdays.  I don’t think I’m very good at setting TB and TS.  And I bought too much of my “test” items.  I know to hold onto wool, leather until I meet my TS (probably next weekend).  But that leaves me with limited confirmed pipelines.  And what’s the point of figuring out sell volume, when it changes so much? I really feel lost.

GOALS:
-I had limited time today, so I accomplished none of today’s original goals.
-I did figure out what to do next with confirmed pipelines, and how to figure out if an item might be a good pipeline.  I applied these processes to confirmed / potential pipelines that I have on the go.
-I could make a fair chunk of gold by selling vendor items every day, but it takes a lot of time to run around and buy everything, so I am determined to concentrate on pipelines.

CONFIRMED PIPELINES
Time to figure out volume to sell.
1)Use Beancounter to record # & size of stacks that sold yesterday.
2)If I have some left, post that many + 1 more today.
3)If I have none left posted, post more today.
4)modify TB, TS if it seems warranted

POTENTIAL PIPELINES:
How do I figure out if a potential is a good pipeline?
1)Determine TB, TS prices from Pipeline/Purchogram
2)B @ this B price; P @ this sell price, or UC market if that is higher
3)record the S price for each item that sold (Beancounter)
4)I should be recording amounts too, but that takes me too long to figure out (and too much data, too much figuring confuses me).  If there are 5 or more sales, it looks good.  If there are 1-4 sales, I’ll record “low volume”
5)Hmmmm……maybe I should record net sales per item in my record of sales, to see how much gold each item brings in.  Don’t want to spend my time on things that net me 5g a day.  Nope, too much to record.

YESTERDAY’S PROBLEM:
Yesterday I felt thoroughly lost. I think that:
a)I made it too complex
b)I was worried about how to figure out what items are pipelines, when price and volume keep changing, with day of week, school year, holidays (phases of the moon, sunspots,…..)

NEW APPROACH:  KEEP IT SIMPLE, POTENTIAL PIPELINES:
I know:  I can’t set a realistic target buy price from purchogram/pipeline, Undermine Journal and looking at my market.
Mistake:  I bought some items for way too much, or bought too many
So, let’s work with what I have done!

How to start pipeline testing:
1)figure out a rough TB price
2)buy a few at that price…record as B (not TB, since that’s not confirmed)
3)set Target Sell price = 2 x B
4)stick to the B and TS price!
5)keep posting until it sells
6)all I have to record is B and TS.  Don’t change them (yet)!
NB> If I’ve already bought the item, set B price as what I bought it for (even if it now appears unrealistic) and set TS at 2x that.  Keep posting until it sells.  If I still have it in a week, get the best price I can and forget about it!

Identifying a pipeline that I want to use:
1)can I buy at Buy price or lower?
2)can I sell at TS or higher?
3)Can I sell either a lot of the item, or a few for a large profit (say 25-50g each, for now)?

Questions:
1)Should I buy more if it becomes available at much less than I originally bought at?....yes, a bit more (5 stacks or so?)
2)Should I post at more than the TS price, if the market is moving up?...Yes, follow market if it has high volume.

You know, this is basically what I wrote out yesterday.  I wonder why it seemed impossible last night, and easy today?
